Pink OTC Markets Inc. operates an electronic quotation and trading system in the over-the-counter (OTC) securities market and is the third-largest U.S. trading venue after the NYSE and NASDAQ for equity shares. The IT team designs, develops and maintains a number of highly-available, low-latency quoting and trading systems, using cutting-edge computing software and hardware.
The UNIX (Solaris and Linux) Administrator is responsible for the day to day operations of our IT systems. We are looking for a highly motivated individual that can work independently as well as function in a team.
Requirements:
• B.S degree in Computer Science and/or appropriate certifications.
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of Systems Administration in a high availability distributed Unix, especially SUN Solaris and Linux, environment
• Understanding of some or all of the following technologies: Cisco based networking, BGP/RIP, VPN, SSL/SSH, SNMP, F5, LDAP, EMC, Nagios, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, FIX protocol.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to function in a high pressure production support environment and make informed real-time decisions based on business priorities and implications.
Responsibilities include:
• Providing real-time responses and proactive support for the operational functions below (but not limited to):
- System Administration
- Network Administration, including LAN, WAN, SAN, and internet/VPN
- Application Administration
- Backup and Restore Administration
- Security Administration
• Setting, reviewing, and execution of the operational plan that compares well with industry best practices for comparable environments
• Working closely with developers, product managers and infrastructure teams on the identification and implementation of operational improvement activities, including change preparation, change execution, and post-change QA validation
• Coordinating with all departments on roadmaps, automation, and operational improvement activities across multiple environments
• Supporting a BCP/DR strategy, including participation in regular failover testing
• Executing an operational security strategy
• Preparing, updating, and maintaining technical documentation
• Installations, upgrades, system maintenance and trouble-shooting
